Blast Motion Introduces Blast Basketball and Blast ActionCam

Blast Motion has unveiled the latest in its line of wearable motion capture solutions, Blast Basketball and Blast ActionCam.

Blast Motion has added two new solutions to its wearable motion capture technology line this week. Blast Basketball and Blast ActionCam join the company's growing line of sports training solutions which include Blast Baseball, Blast Athletic Performance, and Blast Golf.

Blast Basketball uses the Blast motion sensor to capture a basketball player's performance in real time. The sensor can be clipped to the player's waistband, where it collects metrics including jump height, hang time, and rotation. The sensor is able to detect and capture key 3D action data without interrupting the game, and send it to the player's smartphone via Bluetooth Smart. Blast Basketball app, available from the iOS App Store, is compatible with the iPhone 5/5c/5s, iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPad Mini , iPad 3/4, iPad Air, and iPod Touch 5th generation. The devices must be running iOS 7.0 or higher.

Blast ActionCam uses a GoPro Hero action camera and combines it with the Blast precision motion sensor to capture data on vertical height, acceleration, rotation, and hang time in different sporting activities, including skiing, snowboarding, BMX biking, and skateboarding. The metrics captured by the Blast sensor can be overlayed on the footage recorded by the GoPro camera using an iOS app. The sensor can be worn with a clip attachment or secured to the GoPro camera case. It uses Bluetooth Smart to connect to users' smartphones and tablets. The mobile app pulls the video footage from GoPro's Wi-Fi network, identifies the highlights, and overlays the user's data on the video. The user can instantly share the highlights on social networks and via e-mail.

The new solutions use an improved version of Blast Motion's Smart Video Capture technology, with video highlights featuring 1080p HD quality. Blast's patented technology allows athletes to analyse, compare and share their achievements instantly. The company is also introducing Blast prescriptions to offer users tips and drills to improve their performance.

Both Blast Basketball and Blast ActionCam are available for $149.99 on Blast Motion's website.
