Blue Goji has introduced a virtual reality enhancement for the Goji Play active gaming platform, which will allow users to completely immerse themselves in virtual games while exercising on their cardio machine.

Blue Goji has unveiled its new Active Gaming/Active VR concept, announcing a software update that will introduce an entirely new cardio training experience to Goji Play users by engaging them in the interactive, competitive aspects of active games with or without virtual reality headsets. The company's virtual reality enhancement will enable users to play interactive VR games while training on their cardio machines and completely immerse themselves in virtual worlds to get fitter and healthier. The Goji Play platform will also get new support for third party VR games, allowing users to play any Windows PC VR or non-VR game running on Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. After the upcoming system upgrade, any Windows-based game that supports keyboard or gamepad will be compatible with Goji Play controllers.

Blue Goji's Active Gaming/Active VR offerings will include software updates and new VR games. The games – DinoFense, GoWings Safari, Parkour Runner and Goji Wheels – will challenge players to run across rooftops, fly over the savanna, or defend a dinosaur village from a caveman invasion, and translate real motion on a stepper, elliptical machine or stationary bike to virtual action inside the games. In addition to fusing VR gameplay with full-body cardio motion, Goji Play has shown promising results in significantly reducing or eliminating the effects of VR-induced motion sickness, especially in games that require fast or intense movement.

The virtual enhancements for Goji Play were demonstrated at the Building a Healthier Future Summit Expo (hosted by the Partnership for a Healthier America) in Washington, D.C., in May, at the VRLA expo in Los Angeles, California in early August and, most recently, at the 2016 gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany in late August.

The software upgrade is scheduled for release in November. The active VR games will be available for several popular VR headsets – Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and HTC Vive – while the non-VR versions will work with iOS and Android devices.
