Game Golf has announced Game Golf Challenges, a new community feature that lets users compete with fellow golfers across the world and compare and share their performance data.

Game Golf has launched a new Challenges feature to increase the engagement factor of its app-based platform. Game Golf Challenges provide users with a fun way to challenge other players and compete with them. Golfers can also share and compare their performance data. The feature was launched to provide golfers with a way to compete with friends regardless of their geographical location. The platform allows them to share their results and chat with other players.

Game Golf is the first automatic shot tracking system in the world, allowing golfers to play while it tracks their game in the background and later to analyse all the statistical areas relevant to their performance. The system is allowed under the Rules of Golf and can be used in tournament play, allowing professional golfers automatic tracking of their shots for a detailed post-round analysis.

The new Challenges feature introduces three different ways to challenge other golfers. Users can either join or create a community challenge, create an invite-only challenge, or join a featured challenge. Community challenges are open to everyone on Game Golf, while invite-only challenges are restricted to the players invited.

The first featured challenge is the Bridgestone Long Ball Challenge. The winner will win free golf balls from Bridgestone at the closing. The challenge is open to everyone.

Golfers who decide to create their own challenge can choose the time, the course, the format of the competition, and the primary and tie breaker statistics used to determine the winner. The statistics include drive distance, total pars, total birdies, total score, greens in regulation, and the number of putts. Every Game Golf Challenge has a dedicated leaderboard where players can keep an eye on everyone's results and progress.

“We applied the feedback to create the GAME GOLF Challenges feature, which allows golfers to create a competition and determine the requirements, time period and participants," said John McGuire, Game Golf CEO. “Additionally, our Challenges give golfers access to a new chat feature that allows friendly banter, as well as a leaderboard so they can track their progress against their friends.”

Game Golf was developed by Active Mind Technology, a company specialising in the gamification of sport through its GAME platform. Game Golf, launched in January 2014, is the company's first product.
