Gymtrack Transforms Exercise into a Video Game

Gymtrack is a wearable device that tracks the user’s activity and sends the data to a smartphone, where it is transformed into a video game.

Gymtrack is one of the innovative solutions for gyms that emerged on the fitness market this year. Designed to gamify fitness, the wearable device monitors the user’s activity level and sends the data to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop via Bluetooth. The activity data is then transformed into a 3D video game that the user can play while jogging, running on a treadmill, rowing, or doing any other type of exercise at the gym.

Users can wear the device around their arm or ankle. All they need to do is turn it on and connect to their smartphone or computer to enjoy a fun, motivational workout session with an augmented reality interface that tracks their activity. The device comes with a free app that runs on Windows, Android and iOS systems.

Along with monitoring activity levels, Gymtrack allows the wearer to compete against other users or against the computer. The device offers a variety of virtual worlds and different game modes, depending on the type of workout. It lets users track their progress in real time and over different time periods: daily, weekly, or monthly.

Gymtrack is the first activity tracker designed just for the gym. It can be used while exercising on a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical, rowing machine, and almost any other fitness machine used at the gym.

The device was developed by Intelsath, a startup founded with the goal to innovate and make the latest gaming technologies accessible to the general public. The company’s founder, Luis Cruz, developed the first video game system in his native Honduras and received international recognition for the Eyeboard, an inexpensive innovative human-computer interface system that allows people with disabilities to control their computer using only eye movements. For his work on the project, Cruz was named one of the 25 most influential people in the world by the Youth Service America (YSA).
