Icaros to Be Featured Among Most Innovative Products of the Year at FIBO
images: ICAROS, HYVE The Icaros flying simulator is one of the finalists for the 2016 FIBO Innovation and Trend Awards that will be featured at the FIBO Innovation Forum at the upcoming FIBO Trade Show.
Icaros, a flying simulator that uses interactive and virtual reality technology to deliver a unique workout for the entire body, is one of the 12 finalists for the 2016 FIBO Innovation and Trend Awards. Developed by the German company Hyve, the revolutionary strength training device allows users to coast through digital worlds and fly through space or above the Alps while playing interactive games and getting a full-body workout that is particularly intense for the core muscles.
Designed to make workouts more effective and engaging, the Icaros helps improve the user's strength, reflexes and balance. It lets users navigate through virtual environments using only their movements on the Icaros machine to determine their path in different virtual games and measures all their movements with the Icaros controller, attached to the device's handlebar. Icaros consists of the Icaros device itself, the controller with integrated sensors, a VR headset, and an app.
The device has recently won the ISPO BRANDNEW award, which is presented to the most exceptional sporting products, as voted by an international jury, in the weeks leading up to ISPO Munich, the world’s largest sports business exhibition.
The jury considered four elements in particular when evaluating the submitted products – design, innovation, market relevance and the marketing of the product – and named Icaros the overall winner for aiming to revolutionize fitness training by combining sports, gaming and excitement in a unique way.
The finalists for the 2016 FIBO Innovation Awards were unveiled in late February and the winners will be announced at the FIBO Party on April 9, 2016. For the first time, three prizes will be given to the most innovative products featured at FIBO: the Jury Award, the Trade Visitor Award and the Private Visitor Award.
Before the awards ceremony, visitors will get a chance to see Icaros and the other finalists at the FIBO Innovation Forum, set up in Hall 4.2 of the Exhibition Centre Cologne.
