The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball, created by InfoMotion Sports Technologies, was honoured in three categories at the 2014 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards.

InfoMotion's 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball was named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in three categories: Embedded Technologies, Gaming Hardware & Accessories, and Health & Fitness. The independent panels judging the entries across 29 product categories consisted of industrial designers, engineers, and members of the trade media.

Sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards honour outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products, and InfoMotion's innovative smart basketball was acknowledged for a wide range of features and applications. The entries are judged based on their engineering qualities, aesthetic appeal, and intended function and user value.

The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball is used for measuring and diagnosing skills that are crucial to building confidence and versatility. The smart basketball contains nine sensors and provides real-time feedback on ball handling and shooting. The data it delivers includes shot speed and backspin and arc measurements. The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball sends data to an iPhone or iPod via Bluetooth, providing players with the information they need to improve key muscle memory skills more effectively.

The sensors integrated in the basketball accurately measure the player's skills and quickly use the information to recommend personalised methods to improve different performance parameters like shot release speed, shooting arc, shooting mechanics, power dribbling, hand speed, and mental coordination. The sensors measure these and other skills that have traditionally been impossible to measure.

Michael Crowley, CEO and Founder of InfoMotion, said, “We are honoured to be recognized in three separate categories by the International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Award program with the launch of our first product, the 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball. We are excited to launch this revolutionary new training tool just in time for the holidays. We are committed to creating game-changing training tools to help athletes develop their skills in any sport.”

The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball will be presented at the 2014 International CES, held from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Along with the other honorees, it will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: The Official Media Event of the International CES on January 5.

The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball hits Apple Retail Stores and online shop today. The 94Fifty App, available for free from Apple's App Store, is optimised for iOS 7 and allows players to share their results and achievements with coaches, other players, and friends via social media.
