TICKR RUN, created by Wahoo Fitness, uses the iPhone to transform users' running experience.

The TICKR heart rate monitor for iPhone and Android is an advanced device developed by Wahoo Fitness, the creators of the first Bluetooth heart rate monitor. The TICKR uses dual band technology to connect to both GPS watches and smartphones, and is available with Wahoo's Burn and Burst Training Program, designed by Wahoo's physiologist to maximise the user's workout.

The device tracks calorie expenditure and heart rate in real-time, and the training program helps users improve their fitness level and performance over the course of eight weeks. The program is available for free with the Wahoo Fitness App.

The TICKR RUN uses Running Smoothness, Wahoo's built-in accelerometer, to evaluate the user's running form and measure ground contact time, stride rate, running cadence, and vertical oscillation. It also lets treadmill users capture data from their treadmill on their smartphone. Running Smoothness can measure the rate of change in the runner's acceleration for three dimensions – side to side, front to back, and up and down. It can help runners improve their form, boost their efficiency, and decrease the risk of injury. Running Smoothness also gives runners a rating from 50 to 150, their Running Smoothness Index, which shows them how efficient and smooth they are during a workout. Users are provided with insight into the ways they can improve their form by changing the way they run, how fatigue affects their performance during a training session, and how their form improves over time. They can also see how their smoothness is affected by the route or type of terrain they run.

The TICKR can be used with the iPhone 4S and newer, Android devices, iPad (3rd generation and newer), iPad Air, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch (5th generation). It also works with more than 50 third party iPhone Apps, including the Cyclemeter/Runmeter, Strava, Runkeeper, and MapMyFitness.
