Praxtour has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of USA cycling routes for the VirtuReal Cycling systems.

Dutch virtual cycling leader Praxtour has started a new campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds to create USA cycle routes for all the company's exercise bikes. Praxtour aims to create two new boxes with 12 route films which will be available in 18 months if the campaign is successful. The VirtuReal Cycling system is already available with eight boxes containing a total of 48 scenic routes across Europe to choose from, including Alpe d'Huez in the French Alps, Mont Ventoux in southern France, Lago d'Iseo in Italy, and many other attractive destinations.

Praxtour's VirtuReal Cycling is an indoor bike training solution that offers a highly realistic cycling experience to users at home. The company's virtual bikes use AutoResistance, allowing indoor cyclists to feel the resistance automatically change with the terrain. Cyclists define the gravity and speed by shifting gears and their pedalling speed determines the playback speed of the route films. The system also offers all the relevant workout data while the users ride and stores the results in their personal scoreboard. Cyclists can later use these to race against their previous personal best and challenge themselves to always keep improving. Praxtour provides free updates and new features regularly on the company website.

Up to four Praxtour bikes can be linked together, enabling users to race against others and see the difference in time and distance displayed in front of them. The bikes come with a box containing six route films. Additional boxes with other routes are available and they include both easy, scenic routes and more challenging climbs on mountain passes.

Praxtour is offering cycling DVDs, boxes, and cycle tours to backers on Kickstarter, and also making several of its bike models available through the platform: the Classic Praxtour, the Cruise, the Course, the CtR, and the Iron Man CtR. To be able to produce the new route films, the company needs to raise €60,000 by December 27. Visit their Kickstarter page to see how you can help.
