The Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) will present the inaugural Sports Tech Conference and Marketplace at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas in January.

The Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), the trade association representing the leading fitness and sports brands, retailers, suppliers and partners in the United States, will present the first ever Sports Tech Conference and Marketplace at the 2015 International CES, which runs from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Sports Tech Conference and Marketplace will provide a platform for exhibitors to showcase the latest products, services, and innovations in sports technology designed to improve athletes' performance, protect them during play, and enhance viewers' experience and interaction with sporting events. The solutions featured at the Sports Tech Marketplace will range from smart products designed for specific sports to the latest social connectivities for fans.

The Sports and Fitness Industry Association focuses on sports and fitness research and is dedicated to promoting participation through research, thought leadership, member services, and public and industry affairs. Formerly known as the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), the organisation was founded in 1906 by six manufacturers and today represents more than 1,000 manufacturers, brands and marketers in over 3,000 business locations. SGMA changed the name to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association in October 2012.

SFIA has launched a number of initiatives and programs to promote sports and fitness over the years, including PHIT America, a nation-wide campaign to increase participation in sports and fitness activities, and the SFIA Industry Leaders Summit, an executive-level networking event that helps decision makers prepare their businesses for the future.

SFIA has partnered with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the trade association representing the U.S. consumer electronics industry and producer or the International CES, to launch the Sports Tech Conference and Marketplace in order to highlight the ways in which technology has revolutionised sports training and performance and made an impact on the participant experience. The inaugural event will feature a wide range of technologies that are being used more and more in sports, from wearables and sensors to mobile applications that deliver real time data to help athletes reach specific goals.

The Sports Tech Conference will be held on January 7, while the Marketplace is scheduled to run from January 6 to 9 within the Sands Expo and Convention Center at Tech West.
