Sports Vision Training with Vision Coach

Vision Coach, an innovative sports vision training tool developed by Perceptual Testing, Inc., helps athletes develop critical sports skills.

Vision Coach is an advanced sports training tool that enables athletes to improve a range of critical skills through an interactive vision training program. Developed by an optometric vision trainer, the interactive light board helps athletes improve their vision and perception, which in turn helps them get better at moving precisely through three dimensional space and make better decisions about when and where to hit, and how to throw and catch a ball. The system can be adjusted to meet the specific training needs of different sports and maximize athletes' performance on the field.

Vision Coach was designed to develop a wide range of skills associated with vision. These include dynamic visual acuity (the ability to see fast-moving objects clearly), the ability to shift focus quickly, focusing skills both up close and at a greater distance, fixation and tracking, reaction time, visual attention and recognition, binocularity, depth perception and saccadic eye movement (rapid eye movement with abrupt changes in the point of fixation).

The interactive system also has a variety of applications outside sports, as it makes an extremely useful tool for evaluation and therapy in a number of fields, including physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and rehabilitation after concussion and traumatic brain injury.

Vision Coach is particularly valuable in the treatment of neurologically impaired patients, as more than 50 percent of them suffer from visual-cognitive problems and impaired vision. Training with the light board can help patients restore visual function, neuro-motor abilities and muscular coordination while helping them improve upper body range of motion, endurance, stamina, spatial awareness, visual memory, reaction time, anticipation, and decision making, among other skills.

Introduced in 2009, the Vision Coach is registered with the FDA as a Class 1 Medical Device. It is widely used in sports training facilities and rehabilitation centres around the world.
