Xmetrics is a new head-worn waterproof device designed to deliver real-time performance feedback to swimmers and other athletes.

Xmetrics, a new activity tracker designed to act as a virtual coach for swimmers, monitors athletes' performance as they train and helps them improve and reach new goals. The device is equipped with a sensor and worn on the back of the head. It can measure both mechanical and biological factors during training sessions, providing wearers with feedback in real time.

Xmetrics is waterproof, which makes it particularly well suited for swimmers, but it can be used in any sports activity. It was developed by a team led by Andrea Rinaldo, a former professional swimmer, coach, engineer, and now the CEO of Xmetrics. Rinaldo's experience with the sport had made him very aware of the lack of technological support and training tools to help swimmers make the most out of their training.

Xmetrics makes it possible for swimmers to optimise and exploit every second of their training session. Individual sessions can be programmed directly on the device. Xmetrics uses advanced software that allows swimmers and coaches to analyse data after training, and swimmers can also share their data and compare it with friends and other athletes.

Xmetrics will likely revolutionise training for swimmers, as it is designed to provide them with relevant, accurate information directly, making them less dependent on coaches for data and instructions. Coaches are normally difficult to hear during training and most activity monitoring devices are not water-resistant, which makes swimming more challenging to train than other sports.

Xmetrics provides audio feedback to swimmers with every turn, telling them their lap time, number of strokes, heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and other useful data that helps them perform better. The position of the tracker is unobtrusive and the device itself is lightweight and doesn't interfere with swimmers' performance.

Along with addressing the difficulties that swimmers face in training, the Xmetrics software is innovative in itself, as it is the first technological tool that combines biological and biomechanical data and analyses them together. The data can be analysed on the user's smartphone, PC, or tablet.

The first prototype for the new device was developed in July 2013, and a crowdfunding campaign will be launched this month, and the product is expected to hit the market in January 2015.
