Zone Dome Turns Cardio Training into an Adventure

The Zone Dome is a smart solution for treadmills, rowing machines, and stationary bikes that provides indoor runners, rowers, and cyclists with an almost cinematic view of different scenic routes. The locations available with the system include Route 66, Area 51, the Joshua Tree Park in California, the foothills of the Himalayas, and Monument Valley.

Developed by the UK-based company Running Unlimited, the screen compatible with any treadmill, has the shape of a hemisphere. It can be attached to the front of any standard treadmill and uses an iPad program to show the different routes. The Zone Dome allows users to completely immerse themselves and explore the virtual locations either in fitness and health clubs or in the comfort of their home. The HD films available with the system offer a genuinely new experience for runners, challenging and motivating them as they do their cardio routine, and completely transforming the space around them. Running Unlimited is continuously expanding the destination film library with new locations for users to explore.

The Zone Dome is a particularly practical solution for fitness centres, as it allows operators to define the time runners can spend on a treadmill at busy periods. It doesn’t require any maintenance and is fully automated. The giant screen turns itself on and off and shows demo reels when no one is using the cardio machine. Operators can also show their own content in the location films or when the machines are idle.

The Zone Dome has an interactive 3D menu which makes it easy for runners to select their routes. They can also customise their workouts, choosing where they would like to run, for how long, and at what pace. They can do all this at the touch of a button.
