Active Healthy Kids Canada has announced the 2014 Global Summit on the Physical Activity of Children, which takes place in Toronto between May 19 and 22.

Active Healthy Kids Canada has announced the Global Summit on the Physical Activity of Children, which will be hosted at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ontario, from May 19 to 22. The four-day "Power to Move" Global Summit will bring together researchers and practitioners to address the childhood physical inactivity crisis and to provide them with information and tools to maximise their resources and create better campaigns and programs to motivate children to exercise and be more active. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with leaders and innovators in the field of childhood physical activity and share information and best practices from around the world to drive new initiatives to fight sedentary lifestyles.

Founded in 1994, Active Healthy Kids Canada is a Canadian national charitable organisation dedicated to inspiring children and adolescents to engage in physical activity. The organisation provides strategic leadership to influence policymakers and grant-giving influences and to promote physical activity campaigns, programs and strategies designed to motivate children to become more active.

Active Healthy Kids Canada focuses on advancing knowledge and providing evidence to boost support for quality, accessible physical activity experiences that kids across Canada can enjoy. The organisation also releases the annual Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, an assessment of the state of physical activity among children and youth in Canada.

The Global Summit on the Physical Activity of Children will host representatives from 15 countries who will share and discuss their national report cards on physical activity among children. Topics at this year’s conference will also cover areas including active play, active transportation, sedentary behaviour and organised sport and physical activity.
