Smart Rope Tracks Users' Activity and Shows Jump Count in Mid-Air

Tangram Factory's Smart Rope is an intelligent, LED-embedded jump rope that not only monitors the user's movement, but also incorporates the natural motion of a jump rope to accurately track jumps.

Smart Rope, a LED-embedded jumping rope developed by Tangram Factory, is a wearable fitness device that can accurately count jumps, recommend interval training sessions and use the jumper's body mass index (BMI) to calculate calories burned during training. Smart Rope incorporates active training data and communicates with the user's smartphone, making it easy to track workouts and progress. Unlike most passive wearable devices that only track the wearer's movement, the jump rope incorporates the real motion of jumping rope to provide users with an accurate count of their jumps.

Jump rope is one of the most efficient forms of cardio training and has a variety of benefits. It burns a lot of calories, improves coordination and breathing efficiency, promotes cardiovascular and bone health, and strengthens and tones leg muscles, shoulders, abs, and almost every other major muscle group in the body.

To make it easy for users to keep track of their activity, the Smart Rope uses 23 LED lights to display their jump count while they are jumping. The display can also show the calorie count for those who find energy expenditure stats more motivating. The jump count can be particularly useful to athletes as the Smart Rope allows them to focus on their workout and intervals instead of having to count into the hundreds and thousands during trsining.

As the jump rope works with smartphones, users can enter their height and weight into the companion smartphone app, which can then calculate their BMI and combine it with the jumps counted to provide users with data on calorie burn. The Smart Rope also uses jumpers' BMI and jumping ability to provide them with interval training recommendations and workout goals.
