Tokyo Game Show 2014 will run from September 18 to 21 at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2014 Tokyo Game Show will be hosted at the Makuhari Messe from September 18 to 21, with business days held on September 18 and 19 and public days on September 20 and 21. Organised by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc., the event provides a meeting place for game industry professionals from Asia and all over the world. This year, TGS is expected to welcome around 220,000 visitors.

Tokyo Game Show 2014 will host a number of major brands and independent developers who will showcase their latest smartphone games and accessories, social games, simulation games, game devices, and business solutions. Many educational institutions will also be represented at the event, including the Tokyo University of Information Sciences, Osaka Academy of Entertainment Design, Kanagawa Institute of Technology, and the Uppsala University Department of Game Design (Sweden).

TGS 2014 will host a total of 224 exhibitors, including BANDAI NAMCO Games, Cyberith Virtualizer, Konami, Microsoft Japan, Oculus VR, Samsung Electronics Japan, SEGA, Sony Computer Entertainment, IF Games, and many others. This is a significant increase over the previous year, which featured 181 exhibitors in the same period.

The Indie Game Area, sponsored by Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc., received 149 domestic and 161 overseas applicants, and 68 independent game developers from 17 countries were selected to present their latest solutions at this year's event.

Keynote speakers on opening day – including executive-level representatives of SEGA Networks, King, BANDAI NAMCO Games, Google, and the hosting organisations – will discuss globalised games and diversified game platforms as the path to success and Google's role in blazing the trail for the new game world. This will be the first time that Google takes the podium at a TGS keynote session.

The Sponsorship Sessions, held as part of the TGS Forum 2014, will host lectures from App Annie, Amazon Appstore, the Dutch Game Front, and Fusion Communications, Inc.

The Asia Game Business Summit 2014 and the Expert Session, held over the two business days, will feature topics including Xbox One, Japanese game titles, the development of smartphone game applications, and the takeoff of virtual reality.

The Sense of Wonder Night (SOWN) 2014 will provide a platform for innovative game developers to present their unique ideas and experimental designs that inspire a sense of wonder. The event, inspired by the Experimental Gameplay Workshop launched at the Game Developers Conference in 2001, has been very successful in drawing interest from developers, with the numbers of entries both from Japan and abroad increasing each year. SOWN 2014 is the event's seventh edition. The Asia New Stars Area, launched in 2012, will welcome 67 promising game ventures and development companies from 10 countries, marking another new record for TGS.

Other scheduled events include international projects like Cyber Games Asia and Cosplay Collection Night @ TGS.

Tokyo Game Show 2014 is supported by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry through "The Project for Localization & Promotion of Japanese Visual Media (J-LOP)."
