The Australian Fitness & Health Expo, the largest fitness expo in the southern hemisphere, was held in Melbourne from April 4 to 6, 2014.

The 2014 Australian Fitness & Health Expo, held from April 4 to 6 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, drew the world's top fitness brands, live sporting events, athletes, and fitness celebrities. The event was hosted in Melbourne for the first time in its 20 years of history.

This year's event opened with Australia's Strongest Man Derek Boyer, who wowed visitors by pulling a double decker along the Yarra River. Other Australian and international fitness celebrities and athletes were in attendance, including The Biggest Loser Australia trainers Commando Steve, Shannan Ponton and Michelle Bridges, athlete and bodybuilder Steve Cook, and swimmer Michael Klim. They ran VIP training sessions over the weekend and shared advice with the guests.

The latest fitness technologies and equipment were showcased at the event, from commercial gym equipment and accessories to new group exercise concepts. The ones that stood out this year were a new indoor walking class, new fitness wear make from recycled coffee, and a new fitness monitor that tracks the user's data, including calorie expenditure, through his ear.

Over the weekend, the expo hosted more than 240 booths across 19,800 square metres and organisers were impressed with the response. Shaun Krenz, Manager of the Australian Fitness & Health Expo, said, "This truly is the number one event in Australia for those who love fitness and we were really excited to bring it to Melbourne for the first time this year. Melbourne loves its exercise and sport, so it was no surprise that the Expo was warmly received, but we were shocked by just how passionate Melbourne is about fitness. This is an Expo that just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year and we look forward to remaining in Melbourne for the next three years."
