The platform was designed to help with the rehabilitation of patients with vestibular or musculoskeletal disorders, those recovering after a stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI) and patients with Parkinson's disease. The DynSTABLE combines virtual reality environments with a force plate and motion capture technology to offer real-time integration and patient engagement. The moving platform challenges patients' dynamic stability, as well as cognitive and sensory systems, while the technology tracks and analyzes their balance control under complex conditions. The platform helps clinicians assess different aspects of impaired balance control, including patients' ability to cope with the perturbations, perform cognitive dual tasks and process visual and auditory information.

The virtual environment available with the DynSTABLE is displayed on three screens using projectors and enhanced with an audio system. The moving platform allows fast accelerations and lets patients move in every direction. The motion capture system consists of four cameras that collect 3D motion data for instant analysis.
