Games for Health Conference will take place in Boston from June 18 to 20, 2014.

Games for Health announced today that the annual health games conference will run from June 18 to 20, 2014 in Boston, Massachusetts. Registration for the event will be opened shortly and, for those interested, several speaking spots are still available (submit here).

The annual Games for Health Conference has grown into an important industry event since it was launched in 2004, and received significant media attention in recent years. The event serves as a venue for game designers, health care professionals, researchers, and business owners to network, exchange ideas, learn about the latest health studies, developments in gaming technologies, and market opportunities for health gaming products in the United States and worldwide.

Games for Health has announced a number of changes to this year's conference program. Here are some of the key ones:

  • Games for Health is creating a larger space for exhibits to provide entrepreneurs with an opportunity to hold hands-on demos in a larger area instead of presenting case studies and game demos. This will give exhibitors a bigger platform to present their projects and more time to interact with the attendees.
  • There will be more tutorial sessions on production, design, and emerging fields, as well as more briefings on market and funding opportunities. Attendees will also have a chance to try out new tools for building and prototyping games.
  • The conference will have more conversational roundtables to open more opportunities for networking and sharing of ideas and experiences among health gaming leaders and professionals from related fields.
  • Games for Global Health: a specific day will be dedicated to debating and exploring the growing opportunities for health games to build on the rapid growth of mobile platforms in emerging markets.
