Neofect's Rapael Smart Glove Makes Therapy More Effective with Smart Rehabilitation
Neofect's Rapael Smart Rehabilitation System uses advanced technology and gaming content to improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation training for patients with central nervous system disorders.
Rapael Smart Rehabilitation System is an innovative rehabilitation tool that uses interactive games to enhance training sessions and promote neuroplasticity in patients recovering after a stroke or suffering from other neurological disorders. The Rapael system combines task training with sights and sounds to engage patients in therapeutic games and increase their brain activity while they perform the exercises.
The Rapael Smart Glove, the first of the company's smart rehabilitation solutions, is a wearable training device for hand rehabilitation. Developed to make rehabilitation more effective and less expensive, the glove uses bio-feedback and wireless technology to offer task-oriented training based on daily activities. Patients and therapists get visual feedback during training and the activity data is later used to create customised content targeted to individual patients. The device helps patients practice three types of movements: forearm supination – pronation, wrist flexion – extension, and finger flexion – extension. By repeating the tasks associated with everyday activities, patients improve the mobility and function of their fingers, wrists and forearms.
Patients' progress is monitored using a bio-feedback device that allows therapists to track, assess and analyse patients' condition and performance. The data collected by the device can be used to select and adjust rehabilitation games that are best suited to the patient. The technology uses a special algorithm for rehabilitation training to adjust difficulty levels, match training tasks with treatment goals, and motivate patients by setting realistic, yet challenging goals.
Developed by the South Korean company Neofect, the Rapael system measures objective treatment outcomes, automatically sets tasks and difficulty levels, and uses mathematical modelling for training data. It is a convenient solution for rehabilitation and therapy because it offers a variety of training tasks in a single device and can be combined with other rehabilitation devices. The content is regularly updated to introduce new games and elements into training.
