The University of Alabama has purchased a TRAZER HRA (Health Risk Assessment) training system and will implement it as part of their concussion management program.

The interactive training system allows coaches and trainers to objectively track cardio-respiratory and functional movement in athletes. The Defending NCAA Football National Champions will use the TRAZER HRA system for training, tests and assessment, and rehabilitation of some of the best athletes in the U.S.

The TRAZER training system is a sports simulator that can elicit movements specific to sports and challenge the user’s neuromuscular, cognitive, metabolic, visual and vestibular systems. The system can also track the athlete’s physical and physiological performance and assess peripheral awareness, anticipation skills and dynamic visual acuity among other factors to assess his fitness level and capacities. The TRAZER provides trainers and clinicians with a holistic approach to concussion assessment by measuring multiple factors that are affected by an injury.

Jeff Allen, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Football Athletic Trainer at the University of Alabama, said, "We are extremely excited about the multiple applications of the Trazer. Each of the programs provide objective data that enables us to track an athlete's progress and improvement. It is like having a ‘scoreboard’ for rehabilitation. The athletes can see their progress and compete against each other in sports specific drills and games. The athletes also see the value in the TRAZER and ask specifically to use it. I have no doubt that it will have a positive impact on our performance."
