Tanita to Exhibit at FIBO 2014

Tanita is one of the companies that will showcase their products at the 2014 FIBO, the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness and Health, which takes place in Cologne from April 3 to 6.

The Japanese company Tanita will be one of the international exhibitors at this year's FIBO trade show, which opens today in Cologne, Germany. Tanita will present an award-winning range of products, which are increasingly used in fitness clubs, gyms, and sports facilities across Europe.

Founded in 1923, Tanita is a global leader in body composition analysers and precision electronic scales, developing fitness products both for professional and home use. It holds nearly 50 percent of the market share in Japan, where it is a household name. The company developed the first ever stand-on Bio-Electric Impedance Analysis (BIA) body fat monitor, and is particularly well known for its professional body composition and activity monitors, with innovative products including the AM180, MC980, and the MC780. Tanita's pedometers and activity monitors help users better understand their daily energy expenditure and calorie requirements, and motivate them to stay physically active.

Tanita is dedicated to developing products that improve people's health. In 1990, the company established the Tanita Best Weight Research and Development Centre in Tokyo to support research on the relationship between weight and health, to study medical and nutritional conditions, and the effects of physical activity, stress and sociological factors on people's health and well-being.

Tanita is also involved in a number of public awareness initiatives. It commissions the Annual American Body Fat Perception Poll, a nation-wide survey to assess Americans' awareness of vital fitness and health issues. The company also sponsors a Research Networking Program to support quality research on body composition issues, and is an active member of the Partnership for Healthy Weight Management, a coalition sponsored by the Federal Trade Comission to offer guidance on weight loss and management.
